Wellingborough Council is inviting the local community to a special event that will showcase the work that has been carried out to the town centre through the Townscape Heritage Initiative.
The seven-year scheme has been made possible thanks to Heritage Lottery Funding of £1.4m and funding from the Borough Council of Wellingborough. The scheme has seen a number of initiatives delivered in the town centre, including improvements to town centre shop fronts, the former zoo park and essential restoration work being carried out to the Hind Hotel, Priory Cottage, Church Hall, Queens Hall and the Pagoda.
On Tuesday 1 October from 10am – 4pm at Orient Place / Market Square, Wellingborough, residents will have an opportunity to find out more about the work that has been carried out throughout the project. As well as how the scheme is supporting businesses and the follow up ‘Shop Front Improvement Project’.
Lead Heritage Adviser, Cllr Jon-Paul Carr, said: “This event will provide residents with the opportunity to find out more about the fantastic work being carried out through the Townscape Heritage Initiative.
“More than 30 shop fronts have been sympathetically restored through the scheme, and the Hind Hotel is currently undergoing extensive refurbishment, contributing towards regenerating our colourful market town.”
