Information for the media:

The election count will take place at Redwell Leisure Centre, Barnwell Road at 10pm on polling day.

Media representatives will be stationed on the balcony which can also be used for interviews. You are asked to observe the following points:

Fully accredited media representatives will be admitted to the Count and their full names and home addresses must be supplied to the Acting Returning Officer by 4 May 2010 (email: elections@wellingborough.gov.uk or tel: 01933 23153). This is a security requirement and will not be relaxed;

The Count will take place within a rectangle of tables and only the Acting Returning Officer and staff are admitted inside those tables. The number of votes cast will be announced as soon as this is ascertained, together with the percentage poll;

The anticipated time of completion of the Count is expected to be in the early hours of Friday morning;

During the whole proceedings it will be up to the candidates to decide to whom they give interviews or comments; the Acting Returning Officer will not be involved in this process and candidates will be free to conduct whatever interviews they wish so long as this does not interfere with the Count;

Photographs may be taken but must not show individual ballot papers;

Mobile phones may not be used in the Counting Hall.
