Councillors ask for permission to demolish unstable building in Wellingborough.

The Borough Council of Wellingborough are to request approval to demolish a town centre building which officers say should be removed as a matter of urgency.

The application for 31/ 32 Church Street will be discussed by Wellingborough Council’s planning committee this evening, with a view to demolish the building urgently.

A length of footpath along the frontage of 31/ 32 Church Street continues to be closed as a precaution whilst investigative works continue into the stability of an area of brickwork on the street elevation.

The council’s retained consultants are currently working with building control officers and

Investigating works that may be required to ensure the continued stability of the structure

prior to demolition.
