Tier 3 and 4 Local Restrictions Grant Support

One grant will be paid every two weeks to businesses with a business rate property if they have been mandated to close or those operating under substantial restrictions due to tier 3 restrictions from 26th December 2020 or tier 4 restrictions from 31st December 2020.

One payment will be made every two weeks as follows:

Rateable value 15,000 or under                                                            £667
Rateable value 15,001 – 50,999                                                         £1,000
Rateable value 51,000 or over                                                            £1,500

Discretionary Grant Payments

These grants are paid solely at the discretion of the Council’s Section 151 Officer.  We have limited funding for this scheme so grants are predominantly aimed at:

  • Businesses with a business property but no business rate liabilities which have been forced to close.
  • Businesses with relatively high ongoing fixed property-related costs which can demonstrate they have suffered a significant fall in income due to the COVID-19 tier 3 and tier 4 restrictions.

No grants will be paid to businesses without a fixed commercial premises.  If you do not have a business premises you will need to apply for a self-employed grant or Universal Credit. The grants will only be paid when the non-domestic property is in the geographical area of the Borough Council of Wellingborough.

Grants will not be paid without the requested supporting evidence for each section of the application.

Discretionary grants will not be paid to any business which has received tier 3 or tier 4 grant already in relation to their business rate liability.

Companies that are in administration, are insolvent or where a striking-off notice has been made are not eligible for funding under this scheme.

This scheme will end as soon as the tier 3 and tier 4 restrictions are withdrawn.
