Heritage Trail Improvement Scheme

Thanks to funding from the Townscape Heritage Initiative, a children's heritage trail has been added to the town along with a host of other additions. Further promotions and improvements are being developed to raise awareness of the town's heritage.
Wellingborough has a rich history, with many buildings within the town's medieval streets representing some of the finest architecture of past years, each with their own story to tell.
The Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) is a project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Borough Council of Wellingborough. The project has provided a variety of funding streams to heritage projects in the town, one of which is the Town Heritage Trail Improvements. This has involved improved publications and advertising to support the vibrancy of Wellingborough's history. It has also funded the introduction of the Simba Friendship Walk, which forms part of the International Waendel Walk.
The THI project team is working with the Museum, Civic Society, County Libraries and other community groups to ensure trails and associated activities and tours are fully supported and available to all.
If you have an idea for a new trail or if there is something you would like to see explored through this scheme, please get in touch heritage@wellingborough.gov.uk. In the meantime, please take a look at our current editions.
