Small Building Grant
The Small Building Grant is a funding source offered by the Wellingborough Townscape Heritage Initiative.
Any building within the THI area, that is a Building of Townscape Merit (BTM) or listed building is eligible to apply for a small grant. A description and map of buildings of townscape merit can be found in the Wellingborough Conservation Area Appraisal (part B2, section 3).
The grant rate is 50% of a project up to a maximum of £2000. Therefore works costing £4000 could receive the total allowance of £2000 towards repair and restoration.
Examples of work that would be considered are:
- Individual door repairs
- Repair to traditional windows
- Masonry repairs where localised stonework has eroded
- Repairs to rainwater goods
- Repairs or renewal of lead work, flashing or valleys
- Repair to boundary walls
For each element the grant would be for repair or reinstatement of original features using genuine materials and methods. The THI project appreciates that traditional techniques and materials can be a costly skill to employ compared to modern alternatives. This grant is designed to support this extra cost and encourage the conservation of Wellingborough's historic architecture.
