Wellingborough Heritage Trail Improvement Scheme

Wellingborough has a rich history, with many buildings within the town's medieval streets representing some of the finest architecture of past years, each with their own story to tell.

The Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) is a project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Borough Council of Wellingborough launched in 2012.  The project will be providing a variety of funding streams to heritage projects in the town, one of which is the Town Heritage Trail Improvements.   This will involve improved publications and advertising to support the vibrancy of Wellingborough's history.

The THI project team is working with the Museum, Civic Society, County Libraries and other community groups to ensure trails and associated activities and tours are fully supported and available to all.

A comprehensive trail pack has been developed comprising three main walks (short, medium and long) and a special edition Medieval Trail produced for the town's medieval festival. All of the trail leaflets can be downloaded here:

If architectural and environmental heritage is an interest of yours and you would like to see more heritage trail's incorporated into events such as the Waendel Walk, please let us know (heritage@wellingborough.gov.uk).

A wealth of history and information is also available at the Wellingborough Museum where trail leaflets are also obtainable.  There are several more that will be added to the trail as the project continues.
