At Wellingborough street naming and numbering is carried out by the Building Control Team, in association with the technical team that manages the Land and Property Gazetteer. This database holds the definitive list of property locations and numbers.
This is the official database used by Government to ascertain the correct number and geographical location of a property, street lamp, sign or land.
Street names are not intended to be longer than two words, including the type of street. For example, Hanks Way would be permissible, but Tom Hanks Way would be considered a breach of the street naming and numbering policy adopted by the Council, except in very exceptional circumstances.
For roads to be named after a person, that person must be deceased. Full details of the street naming protocol can be obtained here - Policy and Procedures for Street Naming and Numbering.
