Be safe, prepare and enjoy

Walking or cycling can provide great fun and keep you fit and healthy if common sense is used. Remember you are not the only users of the road and that cycles, cars, buses and lorries will still be using the roads during Waendel Weekend.

If no footway or pavement - walk on the right hand side of the road in single file facing the oncoming traffic

Cyclists and walkers are expected to abide by the Highway Code and Country Code

If you become unwell report the problem at a Control Point

St John Ambulance & Daventry RAYNET Group (Radio Amateurs Emergency Network) will be patrolling all routes and can provide assistance if required

Drink plenty of fluids. It is not advisable not to drink alcohol

Bring suitable waterproof clothing and wear suitable footwear, not all the routes are all road and may be muddy

Make sure you bring your medication with you particularly if you are asthmatic or diabetic

Don't try long routes unless you are used to these distances, this is not the time to 'test it out', try one of the shorter routes this year building for longer distances in the future

By taking part in the event you do so at your own risk
