Summer Sports Play Schemes

Location: Redwell Leisure Centre, Barnwell Road, Wellingborough

Time: 00:00 - 00:00

Cost: from £2 to £6 per session

The Borough Council of Wellingborough is again organising summer holiday sports coaching for children after the scheme proved incredibly popular again last year and was a great success.

Sport will be at the front of the midns of many children at the moment with the European Football Championship, International Cricket and the Olympic Games all taking place within quick succession.

A host of professional partners are involved with the delivery of a comprehensive programme including the County Football Association, Northampton Town Football Club and Northants County Cricket Club. Local organisations such as Wellingborough and District Athletics Club and Old Grammarians Tennis Club also assist with the provision and development of sport in the area.

Sports Development Officer, Quintin Allen explains "for us it is not about generating income, we are not a commercial organisation. We are using excellent coaches that for our main Football and Cricket schemes have level 3 qualifications to lead the sessions. It is this approach which enables a pliable style of delivery that equally benefits a child of limited ability and lots of enthusiasm or regular school and clubs players."

Fun and skill development is at the core of all courses and the emphasis of progressing players in a safe environment that is conducive to promoting enjoyment and enhancing performance is of paramount importance.

Places are limited in accordance with governing body recommended coach / child ratios so it is advisable to book early in order to avoid disappointment. As an added bonus included within the price there will be either medals, certificates of attendance, free tickets or gifts relating to the sport that has been participated in.

Further information can be obtained by contacting Redwell Leisure Centre on 01933 402045 or Sports Development on 01933 231823 or email qdallen@wellingborough.gov.uk
