Pro-football coaching with the Cobblers

Published Friday 15th July 11

Young footballers can hone their skills this summer on a course run by Northampton Town FC and Wellingborough Council’s sports development team.

Children aged between 5-14 years will have the opportunity to learn from qualified coaches as they practice performing and perfecting various aspects of their technique, whilst making new friends and playing lots of fun football games. The five-day course takes place at Sir Christopher Hatton school from Monday 25 to Friday 29 July.

Quintin Allen, sports development officer at Wellingborough Council said: "We've teamed up with the Cobblers before to offer football coaching and it's always been a big hit. This year a more in-depth programme is on offer which includes pro-training methods such as speed, agility and quickness alongside small sided games and individual skill sessions. It's a chance for our young footballers to enjoy the experience of being trained by qualified, enthusiastic and energetic coaches in a safe and positive environment."

The course runs from 10am to 3pm each day and costs just £35. All participants also receive a gift from Northampton Town FC and a ticket for a match during the 2011/12 season, as well as a certificate of attendance.
