Sports club development evening
Published Friday 25th February 11
A free evening event to help sports clubs from Wellingborough and Northampton develop and improve is being held on Tuesday 1 March.
The annual event, organised by sports development teams at both Wellingborough and Northampton borough councils, will be at the Northampton Academy from 5.45pm and any sports club representative is welcome to attend.
Quintin Allen, sports development officer at Wellingborough Council said: "The event is very informal and as we offer several different workshops throughout the evening, people only need to attend the sessions that are most relevant to them. It's an ideal way for sports clubs to acquire practical information on issues that will really make a difference to them and the people that use them. We've had excellent feedback from previous events."
Workshops on offer include: using the media to raise the profile of your club; how to obtain tax breaks; making your club more accessible for people with disabilities; Sport England funding programmes including Get Sporty and Sportivate; coaching and volunteer recruitment; and sponsorship.
For more information or to book a workshop, people can contact Quintin Allen at Wellingborough Council on qdallen@wellingborough.gov.uk or 01933 231 823, or Chris Rockall, at Northampton Borough Council on crockall@northampton.gov.uk or 01604 837774.
