Council host employment and skills event
Published Thursday 9th December 10
Wellingborough Council is hosting a series of events to help people affected by redundancy or looking to change their career.
The first of these Wellingborough ROSE (real options for skills and employment) events will take place at the Tithe Barn between 10am and 1pm on Tuesday 14 December.
A range of organisations will be under one roof, to provide advice and information about the range of help and support available. Representatives from Next Step, the government's careers and skills advice service will be attending, as will local employers with job vacancies in the Wellingborough area.
Other services on offer will include help with CV writing, interview skills, and job search techniques. There will also be the opportunity to talk to organisations that provide training, and find out about volunteering. Staff from the council will be on hand to offer assistance, and will be able to discuss a range of subjects that may affect people out of work such as ways of reducing household costs.
Councillor Graham Lawman said: "Unfortunately, worry about redundancy is something that is very real for a number of people in our community at the moment, and we know that it's important to have access to the right help and advice. This event will answer people's questions and will put them in touch with organisations that can offer genuine help. It's also ideal for anyone who's thinking of a career change, wants to set up their own business, or may have already lost their job. We hope to see as many people there as possible."
The first Wellingborough ROSE event will be held at the Tithe Barn, Burystead Place (near Morrisons) on Tuesday 14 December from 10am to 1pm. Presentations will take place at 10am, 11am and 12pm. Refreshments will be available throughout. For more information, people can contact Rachel Mallows on 01933 664 437.
