Noise prosecution

Published Thursday 27th May 10

A Wellingborough resident was fined £1,165 last week for three noise offences.

Complaints were received about amplified music coming from Meshach Mitchell's flat in Sylvanus House, Queensway, and despite repeated requests to stop causing a nuisance Mr Mitchell was served with a noise abatement notice in March 2010.

The noise problems continued to be reported, affecting residents in neighbouring flats. Three noisy events were witnessed in April and as a result the case came before the court last week.
Mr Mitchell was convicted in his absence and fined £350 per offence, with £100 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
