Man found guilty of littering offence

Published Thursday 23rd September 10

A Wellingborough man has been found guilty of a littering offence.

Stephen Newton of Minerva Way failed to attend Wellingborough Magistrates Court on 22 April and was fined £200 in his absence and ordered to pay £100 costs and £15 victim surcharge.  Newton had been given a fixed penalty notice in December 2009 for depositing a wooden cabinet outside the back fence of his home but failed to pay.

John Casserly, Wellingborough Council's Head of Environmental Services, said: "This sends out a clear message that we take littering and other environmental offences seriously and will continue to use all powers available to help us maintain a clean borough".
