Licensing hearing
Published Wednesday 18th August 10
On 11 August 2010, the licensing sub-committee of the Wellingborough Council heard an application for review of the premises licence for the Dolben Arms, Irthlingborough Road, Finedon.
The application for review was made by the council's Environmental Protection Manager, following a number of incidents of disturbance from excessive noise involving amplified music, resulting in numerous complaints from residents in the vicinity.
It was clear that the problem was due to poor management of the Dolben Arms, which is owned by Punch Taverns.
The sub-committee's decision was to remove the designated premises supervisor immediately, to limit any entertainment to 11pm, until such time as suitable acoustic secondary glazing was installed, and to ban drinking outside after 11pm.
Head of Environmental Services, John Casserly said, "The Borough Council of Wellingborough take all such complaints seriously and this action sends out a message to other licensed establishments, that we will continue to ensure we regulate in such a way as to protect and improve the quality of life for our residents".
