Lunchtime Recitals - The Vida Guitar Quartet
Published Monday 6th September 10
The Tithe Barn will soon be alive to the sounds of classical music once again as Wellingborough Council’s autumn season of recitals gets underway on Wednesday 15 September.
The Vida Guitar Quartet brings together four guitarists of exceptional ability and virtuosity, all sharing a passion for chamber music. They made a spectacular debut at the first World Youth Guitar Festival in 2007 and have since gained a reputation as one of the most exciting guitar ensembles in the UK.
The quartet comprises:
Mark Ashford - who has performed as both a soloist and with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and who is currently guitar tutor at the Birmingham Conservatoire of Music.
Helen Sanderson - who studied at the Royal College of Music and who has played at major international guitar festivals and recitals at venues such as the Purcell Room, the British Embassy in Vienna and the Barbican Centre.
Mark Eden and Christopher Stell - better known as the Eden Stell Guitar Duo, acknowledged as one of the finest and most innovative guitar duos in the world. Both currently hold teaching positions at the Birmingham Conservatoire and the Royal College of Music.
Tickets cost just £3.50 (£2.75 concessions) and are available on the door from 12.15pm before the recital. Tea and coffee are available beforehand for 50p.
The recitals are funded and organised by Wellingborough Council. For more information please call 01933 231740.
