August athletics

There are a few places left on this year's athletics coaching course, to be held at the Redwell Leisure Centre from Monday 9-Friday 13 August. The sessions run from 1-3pm and are open to boys and girls aged between 8 and 13 years old. At only £5.50 a session, and suitable for all abilities, it is a great way to get children moving about during the summer holidays and learning some new skills. There are also a few places still available on the courses for children between 5 and 7 years old, which take place on the same days but in the morning from 10.45am-12.15pm and cost only £2.50 per session.

Quintin Allen, Wellingborough Council's sports development officer said: "Many children have received and thoroughly enjoyed coaching through our programmes every year. Athletics will give them the opportunity to take part in activities that mainly focus on fun and participation in an inclusive environment, with skill development being at the core of each session."

Lindsay Humberstone, whose son Lee has taken part in the sports coaching sessions in the past said: "I would recommend the summer coaching to any other parent. They are fantastic value for money and the kids really do get so much out of them. Lee gets so many benefits from taking part - obviously it's good for his health, but it's also great for him socially and he's made loads of new friends."
