Holiday football coaching
Published Thursday 22nd July 10
Wellingborough Council has teamed up again with Northampton Town FC to deliver football coaching sessions for children during the summer holidays. The course provides quality coaching to boys and girls of all abilities aged 5–14.
The course takes place from Monday 26 to Thursday 29 July at Sir Christopher Hatton School from 10am-3pm and costs £35. The sessions focus on skill development in a fun and inclusive way and are suitable for children who have limited playing experience as well as those who are a regular school or club player. They are led by qualified CRB-checked coaches.
The training doesn't stop when the course ends - there is the potential for players to progress into the Player Development Centres or the Centre of Excellence at Northampton Town FC, or the children can be pointed in the direction of local clubs if they want to continue playing.
Quintin Allen, Sports Development Officer at Wellingborough Council said: "The young people always have a fantastic time on our courses and we pride ourselves on the reputation we have across the county for delivering quality grassroots coaching. Getting children involved in sport has so many benefits, both for health and socially."
Lindsay Humberstone, whose son Lee has previously taken part in the coaching said: "Taking part is good for Lee's health and I much prefer him to use his summer holidays playing sport than staying at home on his computer. But it's also great for him socially, and he's made some good friends out of it. The coaching is very professional and Lee says it's great fun. I would recommend the coaching to any other parent - it's fantastic value for money and the kids really do get so much out of it."
