Town centre open for business as usual

Shops along Sheep Street, Silver Street, HIgh Street, and throughout the town centre are all open as usual during the improvement works.
The improvements, the first step in the council's 2020 vision of achieving a town centre that people are proud to live, shop and work in, are due to be completed in the autumn.
Wellingborough Council is aware that some traders are struggling during the roadworks as their passing trade has fallen, and wants to reassure people that all the shops and car parks are open for business as usual.
When completed, the improvements will result in a better pedestrian access which should benefit the traders, but the council wants to encourage people to support the shops during the works so that we still have a thriving town centre in the autumn. Extensive publicity, advertising and updated information leaflets are in place to help get the message across.
Mark Jones of the O2 shop in Silver Street echoes the feeelings of many of the traders in the town centre as he urges people to shop local:
"We support the improvements to the town centre and we want people to know we are open as normal during the works. We hope people will continue to support us and the town centre during these improvements."
