Northamptonshire Heartbeat Awards
Published Thursday 29th April 10
Wellingborough and Kettering Councils joined forces this year to present the Northamptonshire Heartbeat awards for 2010, given to catering businesses for good hygiene and healthy menu choices.
The awards ceremony took place on the 28 April at the Corn Market Hall in Kettering, where award holders formally received their awards from the Mayor of Wellingborough, Councillor Peter Morrall and Kettering Deputy Mayor, Councillor Shirley Lynch.
This year Wellingborough saw a total of three new Heartbeat standard award holders, this is in addition to the 5 gold award holders and 36 standard award holders who have maintained their awards. In order to gain the award, caterers needed to adopt healthier food preparation methods and offer a range of healthy options on the menu.
The Heartbeat Award has been running since 1987 and is a nationally recognised award scheme across the UK. The Northamptonshire award is for caterers who show a continued commitment to their customers, providing healthier food choices in a healthier environment. The award consists of two levels - Heartbeat and Heartbeat Gold - and is renewed each year to ensure that the high standards are being maintained.
The Heartbeat awards provide customers with the knowledge that they have the option to make a healthy choice in a quality establishment. So, if you are looking for somewhere healthy to eat look out for the Heartbeat Awards.
