Changes to Bulky Household Waste Collection & Pest Control
Published Tuesday 16th March 10
From the 1st April 2010 there are significant changes to the Bulky Household Waste Collection Scheme and the concessions given for this and the Pest Control Service.
Bulky Household Waste Collection
We will allow up to 5 items to be collected per occasion but the charge will increase to £25+ Vat. Concessions will only be made to those in receipt of Housing or Council Tax benefit.
During last year a review was carried out into the cost of providing the collection service and how the cost of the service compared to other councils in the area. Following a report to the Resources Committee on the 12th January 2010, the decision was made to increase the number of items that can be collected on each visit up to five items, the charge would be increased to £25 + VAT, and only those in receipt of Housing or Council Tax Benefit would be eligible for a free service.
It is suggested that the changes will better reflect the cost of the service and the revised concessions better reflects householders ability to pay.
Pest Control Service
From April 1st, 2010 the charge for pest control treatment for rats and mice will be £61.45 and concessions will only be given to those householders in receipt of Housing or Council Tax Benefit.
