Have your say on Election Day General Election preparations start in Wellingborough

With a General Election certain to be called in the next 10 months, electoral registration staff at Wellingborough Council are already working to ensure all eligible voters have a voice on polling day.

The Wellingborough team are sending out forms to household to compile the new electoral register that will be vital to the poll.

By completing and returning the yellow voter registration form, voters will be making sure they can have their say in the election on what matters to them.

Electoral Registration Officer for Wellingborough, Lyn Martin-Bennison, said: "It is simple to register.  All you have to do is complete and return the annual canvas form that will be coming through your letter box in the next few weeks and you will then be able to help choose the people who make the decisions that affect your everyday life.
"For some people, this may be the first General Election they will take part in and they may be worried about what to do.  You can find out more by calling 01933 231831 or go to www.aboutmyvote.co.uk
"There is a General Election coming between now and June 2010 and, if you are not registered to vote you won't be able to make a decision about who represents you in Westminster.  It only takes a few minutes to ensure you have a voice in issues that matter."
