Summer events in Wellingborough will be postponed

The Borough Council of Wellingborough has made the difficult decision to postpone this year’s Party Weekend and The Beach events in order to ensure the safety of residents in light of the Coronavirus.

The Council will continue to review the ongoing situation in line with Government guidance in the hope to hold a community event and the annual Christmas light switch on later this year.

Wellingborough Carnival Association and the Council have taken the decision to cancel the parade and events on Saturday 4 and 5 July. The Beach event, which sees a pop up beach come to Wellingborough’ s market place, will also be postponed for this year. Any future plans will be reviewed once it is safe to host community events again.

The Leader of the Borough Council of Wellingborough, Cllr Martin Griffiths said: “We are incredibly disappointed to postpone the very popular Party Weekend and The Beach events this summer but it is paramount that we put the safety of residents first.

“We will continue to review the Government guidance regarding the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic with a view to deliver a community event later this year.”
