Improvement works to be carried out at Doddington Road Cemetery

Published Tuesday, 21 April 2020

The Borough Council of Wellingborough has been planning improvement works to Doddington Road Cemetery, which are anticipated to commence at the end of May 2020.

The cemetery provides an important place for family and friends to visit and commemorate their loved ones and the Council has identified that there are areas which require improvements. The roads and pathways will be repaired, and further improvements will be made to the children’s area.

The works, which are anticipated to take up to eight weeks to complete, will increase the capacity of plots and see the installation of drainage to allow additional plots to be provided in areas for multi-faith and children’s burials.

There will be limited access to the areas where works are being carried out, however the Cemetery will remain operational and funerals will take place as planned.

Leader of the Borough Council of Wellingborough, Cllr Martin Griffiths, said: “We are committed to providing essential services and facilities for our community, and we recognise that the Doddington Rd Cemetery requires improvements.

“The improvements will enable us to provide additional plots within Wellingborough for families and their loved ones, and improve visitor’s experience during difficult times, providing a peaceful environment.”
