As part of the budget setting process for next year, the council is considering the amount it charges for services such as, room hire and license renewals.

Increasing costs is difficult, but we have to try and match our income to our expenditure and, in most cases, the proposal is to only increase fees in line with statutory requirements and on specific recommendations. Over the past 12 months, the average rate of inflation has been 2.8% and therefore the council is proposing to apply this increase to all applicable fees and charges.
It is also proposed that there could be a £5 increase in council tax for 2020-21 and the same increase again in each of the following two years to 2022-23. This would increase the amount payable on the average band D property in 2020-21 by £0.10p per week.
