The global participation phenomenon that is parkrun has recently launched in Irchester Country Park.
The free, weekly, 5k event, where you can walk, jog, or run, takes place every Saturday at 9:00am and is open to everyone.
Simply visit parkrun.org.uk, register, print off your barcode, get your trainers on, and head out to join the party.
Since its launch in 2005, and with an international family of six million registered participants and counting, parkrun is a fantastic way to kick-start your weekend.
The beautiful parkrun course at Irchester Country Park winds its way along the well surfaced trails through diverse woodland that reveal elements of the park’s ironstone quarrying history as well as its Jurassic limestone geology.
Run entirely by volunteers, an inclusive and supportive community is growing around the event which has been made possible due to the generous support of Walk For A Cause, Wellingborough & District Athletic Club, Irchester Parish Council, Northamptonshire Sport, Borough Council of Wellingborough, Weatherbys Ltd, and Northamptonshire Public Health.
The team are always on the look out for new volunteers to help deliver the event, and details of how you can get involved are on their website: https://www.parkrun.org.uk/irchestercountry.
After each event the team meet in the Quarryman’s Rest Cafe for breakfast (and cake)! So, what are you waiting for? Set your alarm, lace up your trainers, and get involved
