Wellingborough residents celebrate the countdown to Christmas

The festive season has officially kick started in Wellingborough as the community came together to join the Borough Council of Wellingborough and celebrate the annual lights switch on this Saturday.

Atomic Kitten's Natasha Hamilton and cast members of Castle Theatre's Pantomime Aladdin joined the Mayor of Wellingborough on stage to officially turn on this year’s display, which boasts new lights for 2019!

Natasha took the stage with the cast to treat the crowd to a taste of the festive fun on offer at the venue's 2019 pantomime which runs from 14 - 31 December. Residents enjoyed performances from local community groups throughout the afternoon as Gary L Johnson hosted the afternoon of Christmas activities.

Julia Wells, Events Officer at the Borough Council of Wellingborough, said:
“This year’s event was bigger and better than ever, featuring new lights and the talented cast of the Castle Theatre’s Pantomime, Aladdin. Thank you to everyone who came along to help us officially launch the festive season and we wish everyone a safe and happy Christmas.”

Gary L Johnson, director of GLJ Theatre, said: "It was amazing to see the borough come together to start Christmas celebrations."

Cast members of GLJ Theatre also performed at the Christmas Lights Switch On and Gary added: "It is events like this that will stay with our Jungle Book Cast forever. It meant the world to them - and we know the audience enjoyed the performance too."
