Borough Council of Wellingborough

Battery fire at waste transfer station

Published Thursday, 18 July 2019

There was a small fire at a waste transfer station last week which was caused by a rechargeable battery.

Residents are urged to please not place batteries of any kind in their bins. The chemicals in batteries can react with other materials and have the potential to cause hazardous fires. Many supermarkets and household waste recycling centres across the borough accept a wide-range of batteries.
