Borough Council of Wellingborough

Following the attacks in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday, the flags outside the Council Offices are now flying at half-mast

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the victims and their families.

Wellingborough’s Market is on the move

The town’s market stalls have adorned Market Square for decades. In a bid to make the stalls more prominent and accessible, the council will be temporarily relocating the market.

From Saturday 1 December Wellingborough’s general market will be repositioned to Orient Plaza, the pedestrian area between Orient Way and Market Street, to become more central for visitors to the town centre, with the larger Bric a Brac market remaining at the Market Place.

The council is working with local businesses and stall holders to create a strategy that will focus on reviving Wellingborough’s town centre.

In the New Year, the council will meet with stall holders and review whether Orient Plaza is to become the permanent home for Wellingborough’s market.

Why not pop along to the market on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and visit one of the local stall holders?
