Local Authorities are required to establish and maintain an independent remuneration panel to make recommendations to the council regarding its scheme for members’ allowances.
The council is setting up a new panel to carry out this important task. To assist with the continuity of the panel’s work, two of the panel members shall be appointed for an initial period of five years. The remaining two members of the panel shall be appointed for an initial period of three years.
