Borough Council of Wellingborough

Wellingborough Balloon Festival

Published Tuesday, 21 July 2015

Wellingborough Council would like to clarify that the Wellingborough Balloon Festival, due to take place at Sywell Aerodrome over the August bank holiday weekend, is not a council event.

The council has no influence over, or involvement in, the planned event, and no council money has been spent on it.

The council runs a number of community events throughout the year. These are:

Holocaust Memorial Day

The International Waendel Walk

Wellingborough Carnival (in partnership with the Wellingborough Carnival Association)

Party in the Park

Christmas lights switch on (in partnership with the Wellingborough BID)

A spokesman for Wellingborough Council said: “Whilst we wish the organisers of the planned Wellingborough Balloon Festival every success, we need to make it clear that it is not an event that is in any way affiliated with Wellingborough Council. Any questions relating to the event should be directed to the organiser.”

The council is able to advise anyone planning an event on matters concerning health and safety, food safety, event management, potential noise nuisance, and licensing requirements.
