Local Strategic Partnerships (LSPs)

An LSP is a single body that:

  • brings together at a local level the different parts of the public sector as well as the private, business, community and voluntary sectors so that different initiatives and services support each other and work together
  • is a non-statutory partnership
  • provides a single overarching local co-ordination framework within which other partnerships can operate
  • is responsible for developing and driving the implementation of Community Strategies and Local Area Agreements (LAAs)
  • in areas receiving Neighbourhood renewal funding, is responsible for agreeing the allocation of this funding and helping to 'narrow the gap'.
The membership and action plans vary from place to place depending on the local issues that need tackling. LSPs will become more and more important as they drive Local Area Agreements (LAAs) and set out the local Sustainable Community Strategy for a brighter future.

Key partners are community and faith groups, the council, police and fire & rescue services, charity groups, businesses, schools, health bodies and more.

Pooling experience and expertise, they can understand local people, places and problems. And make sure the right actions are taken and right services delivered.

Wellingborough Partnership is led by the Borough Council with the full input of many partner organisations from the Borough . It strives to make the quality of life in the Borough of Wellingborough what you say you want it to be. The community decide the priority actions, which, in turn, form the Sustainable Community Strategy.
