Home Energy Conservation Act 1996 (HECA)
What is the purpose of the Act?
This legislation requires local authorities to implement a strategy to achieve a 30% improvement in energy efficiency in dwellings over a 10-15 year period.
This improvement will cause a significant reduction in carbon dioxide (the main greenhouse gas) and result in many people saving money on fuel bills, allowing them to heat their homes more easily.
