Schools Recycling
Waste Education Team
The seven Borough and District Councils in Northamptonshire in partnership with Northamptonshire County Council have a dedicated Waste Education Team who deliver the Slim Your Bin @ School project. The aim of this project is to raise awareness across all school children about waste as an issue and the importance of the waste reduction, reuse and recycling.
The scheme provides schools with the following (free of charge):
- A regular recycling collection at school
- equipment and containers
- support
- Waste education sessions
- Assemblies, talks, workshops
- Educational materials
- Help and advice
- Access to the Waste Education Centre
- Interactive waste awareness sessions
- Visits to the environmental garden
- Tours of the recycling facility
- Organised visits to landfill sites
- Waste education bus
- Available to visit your school for interactive waste awareness sessions
- Designed primarily at Key Stage 2.
