Orlingbury

Orlingbury is five miles north west of Wellingborough with a population of just over 300.

Grouped around the village green are the parish church, smithy, manor house, cottages and farm buildings.

The Church of St Mary was rebuilt in 1842 and near the altar is an alabaster figure reputed to be Jock of Badsaddle, the killer of the last wild boar in England.

Other buildings of note include Orlingbury Hall, the Old Rectory and the 17th century dovecote.

StrixtonStrixton

Lying five miles south of Wellingborough, Strixton has never comprised more than 20 families; the current population is about 25.

In 1736, Sarah, Duchess of Marlborough, bought the village and it passed to the Spencers in 1744. Two centuries later it was sold to the present owner, the Duchy of Lancaster.

The church, dedicated to St Romwald, dates from about 1200.
