Set in the beautiful rolling Northamptonshire countryside the district around Wellingborough town is graced with some of the region's most historic buildings, unspoilt villages and opportunities for picturesque country walking.

Bozeat

Six miles south of Wellingborough, Bozeat is an ancient village showing signs of Iron Age, Roman and Saxon settlements.  It's industries have included a thriving 15th century weaving industry,  cottage lace-making industry and a 17th and 18th century villalge shoe trade.

Today the village is served by a number of retail outlets, post office, bus service and small industrial and commercial businesses.

Earls Barton

Four miles south west of Wellingborough, Earls Barton ("Earls" from its long association with the Earls of Northampton and Huntingdon - Castle Ashby, one of their ancestral homes is just across the River Nene - and "Barton" from "Beretun", a Saxon word indicating a barley-growing region) is famous for its remarkable eighty-foot late Saxon church tower.  In 1970 visitors came from all over the world to attend the millennium celebrations.

Traditional industries included cloth fulling, rushmat and lace-making, hide-tanning and the boot and shoe industry - still flourishing in the village
