Don't Lose Your Right to Vote.......!!!!
Look out...
A yellow voter registration form will be delivered to every home in the Borough of Wellingborough from the end of August. Information provided from this annual canvass will update the Register of Electors which will be published on or around 1 December 2011.
If your name is not included on this register, you will not be able to vote in any forthcoming elections or referendums.
What happens next..
The registration form will be addressed to "The Present Occupier (s)", you will need to see whether all the information is correct or whether any changes are required.
Changes
If any changes are needed (for example if somebody has moved out of or into the property, or one of the people listed has changed their name), please make the necessary changes to the form and return it to the Elections Office in the enclosed pre-paid envelope. Please remember to sign and date the form before you send it back to us for processing. We can only change the information if we have a signed form returned back from you - if you do nothing, then we don't know that the information is wrong!
No Changes
If no changes are required, you can use your unique security codes (printed on the form in the top right-hand corner) to register either via the internet, the telephone, or via text message.
- INTERNET: To register online follow the link
- TELEPHONE: Dial 0800 197 8602 and enter Parts 1 and 2 of your unique security code when prompted. Please note that whilst this is free from a landline, call charges apply from mobile telephones
- TEXT MESSAGE: Send your reference number to 80212. Please note that call charges apply when using this service.
- ON THE FORM: If you prefer not to register by internet, telephone or text, you can simply sign and return the form to us, either in person or using the pre-paid envelope which is included with your form.
If you would like to vote by post in any forthcoming election, you can indicate this by ticking the appropriate column on the form. A postal vote application form will then be sent to you.
It is a legal requirement to complete a registration form; failure to do so could lead to a fine of up to £1000. You may also find it difficult to obtain a loan, a mortgage, or open a bank account as the register is used by credit reference agencies for verification.
