Budget Consultation 2012/13
Introduction
Each year we invite people to comment upon our plans for providing services to the local area. Some of our services are provided because the government tells us to, for example, inspecting restaurants for food hygiene and emptying wheelie bins. Other services we choose to provide because they make the area a better place to live in, for example, the health and fitness facilities at the Waendel Leisure Centre and free parking in our town centre car parks.
Everyone recognises that right now times are very difficult. Individuals, families and businesses are all reining in their spending. The Council too, has had to adapt to be reductions in its funding. Wherever possible we have sought to protect the services that people use every day. Instead we have saved money by improving the way we organise and run our services.
These webpages summarise how we propose to balance these competing demands next year. We would very much like you to give us your views before we finalise our plans in February.
