Borough Council of Wellingborough

Coronavirus (COVID-19): services, facilities and guidance

Residents

Council Tax

We recognise that residents may experience financial difficulty during the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

If you are having difficulty paying your Council Tax you can contact the team who will be able to offer you support and advice on the options available to you.

Due to high service demands being experienced by the team at present, please email us in the first instance, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Waste collections

The Council and Wellingborough Norse are collecting bins as normal. If and when there are any changes to the service, a further update will be provided.

With more residents working from home, access to some streets is becoming very difficult. Wellingborough Norse ask that residents park their cars considerately on collection day so that the truck can access the road and empty your bins.

Please think carefully about what you can do to reduce, re-use and recycle. Please ensure that your waste is contained in the bin and the lid is closed. Information regarding what items can go in each of the different coloured bins can be found here.

Bins found to be contaminated with incorrect materials will not be emptied.

Disposal of personal waste during the Coronavirus Pandemic

The latest Public Health England information regarding the disposal of personal waste is as follows:

If you are showing symptoms of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), personal waste such as used tissues and disposable cleaning cloths can be stored securely within disposable rubbish bags. These bags should be placed into another bag, tied securely and kept separate from other waste. This should be put aside for at least 72 hours before being put in your usual external household waste bin.

Other household waste can be disposed of as normal.
