Local Authority Carbon Management Programme
In July 2008 members set an an aspirational target of 30% for the Council to reduce its carbon emissions by 2012 against a 2006 baseline. Following extensive research a report was presented to Members in December 2008 which enabled them to ratify the 30% target.
Since then further work has been undertaken on a Carbon Management Plan, and a number of projects have already been implemented.
Data for the year 2008/09 has shown that we have reduced our energy use and hence carbon emissions by 10.5%. More detailed information is contained in the Carbon Reduction Update Report that went to Development Committee in June 2009.
