Town Centre Area Action Plan (AAP)

The following documents were adopted by the Council as Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD) on 21st July 2009 and now form part of the Local Development Framework.

• Public Realm Strategy (PRS)
• Shop Front and Advertisement Design Guide (SFADG)

Public Realm Strategy (PRS)

The public realm relates to all publicly accessible open space including streets, parks and squares. The Strategy identifies strengths and weaknesses in the public realm; provides guidance to deliver improvements; and identifies opportunities for enhancing the town centre.

• PRS Regulation18 Consultation Statement - summarises the main issues raised in representations on the draft guidance and indicates how these issues have been addressed in the Strategy.
• PRS Regulation 17 Consultation Statement 
• PRS Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report
• - first stage in the preparation of a Sustainability Appraisal. It sets out the methodology/programme and identifies key sustainability issues.
• PRS Sustainability Appraisal - sets out the likely significant social, economic and environmental impacts of the Strategy
• Equalities Impact Assessment- an assessesment of the likely impacts of the Strategy on groups such as the elderly, the young, the disabled and ethnic minority groups.
  

Shop Front and Advertisement Design Guide (SFADG)

This document sets out guidance for the design and security of shop fronts and the Council's approach to advertisements on buildings.

Materials Palette

The Materials Palette establishes a set of specifications relating to paving and street furniture that will establish a 'look and feel' for the public realm that meets the aspirations for the town centre as described in the:

• Wellingborough Town Centre Area Action Plan
• Public Realm Strategy
• Conservation Area Appraisal

The Materials Palette directly follows on from the recommendations in the Wellingborough Town Centre Public Realm Strategy - to provide material specifications and more detailed design guidance.
