Open Spaces

Open Spaces Development Officer Alex Benoy  Tel: 01933 231736

The Open Spaces Development Officer encourages the use of Wellingborough's parks and open spaces.  The role involves encouraging local communities to improve their local green space - giving help and advice, making suggestions and ideas for developments, providing signs and information boards in the park or improving planting.

Other projects run by the officer include the Hearty Walkers Groups - weekly walks of varying lengths set up to improve the health and well-being of participants; the Glamis Grove Volunteers - a monthly group which helps to look after Wellingborough's Local Nature Reserve - and the Friends of Swanspool Gardens.  New members to all these groups are always welcome!

Country Parks

The Environmental Services section is responsible for the general operational management and day-to-day maintenance of the various local parks distributed across the area.

Mobile grounds maintenance teams regularly visit sites to ensure that the defined standards are maintained.

The grounds maintenance staff ensure that the quality and range of horticultural features such as:

  • grass areas
  • litter collection
  • flower and shrub beds
  • hedges
  • playgrounds
  • outdoor sports facilities

are all maintained appropriately, and that standards of cleanliness and health and safety are achieved by regular inspection.
