Our Workforce
Human Resources Policies
The Council's Human Resources Strategy promotes equality of opportunity. We also have a Bullying and Harassment Policy and a Confidential Reporting (Whistleblowing) Policy which seek to ensure our employees know how to report incidents, feel secure in doing so and believe action will be taken.
Our Learning and Development Plan seeks to address gaps in employees' learning and experience. Up to date general equalities training is planned for all employees in 2012, together with training on undertaking Equality Impact Analyses for relevant employees.
The Council sends all job adverts to community groups representing different advocacy groups, as well as to the Job Centre. We have 'two ticks' accreditation in respect of our employment practices for disabled people.
The Council recognises that it needs to continue to improve and has agreed the following draft equality objective:
'Ensure that the Council's employment policies and practices promote and improve equality of opportunity'
