'Shop Local'
Introduction
What is 'Shop Local?'
'Shop Local' first took place during March 2009. The initiative was championed by Finedon Ward Councillors, Cllr. John Bailey and Cllr. Malcolm Ward as part of the Council's Ward Action Programme. This involves Councillors being allocated funds to spend on projects within their wards. As well as boosting the local economy at this challenging time, shopping local can also have a positive impact on the environment. The initiative was repeated for Christmas 2009.
24 businesses took part in part in the 2011 campaign - download the map showing all participants here . We held a best dressed shop window competition on 5th January 2011 to help to launch the campaign and a shop window treasure hunt ran throughout January culminating in a prize draw - a cash prize of £50 was awarded to the following lucky 'local shoppers':
- Nicola Emerton
- Nick Pinney
- Patsy Coles
- Joyce Williams
- E.W. Smith
- Ben / Heather McAuliffe
- Stuart Hill
- Graham Emerton
- Rebecca Stanford-Durdan
- Kate and Angelina Sibal
Congratulations to all of the above winners and thank you once again for supporting your local businesses.
