Do I need planning permission? / Development Control queries
Before you submit a planning application, it is always best to talk to us first about the work you want to carry out.
Please see our interactive map or download the list of towns and villages within the Borough of Wellingborough to ensure that your application is within the Wellingborough area.
The planning portal's visual guide for householders: houses and terraces, shows what types of household development may need planning permission.
An amendment to the Planning Regulations, The Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (Amendment) No. 2) (England) Order 2008, came into force on 1st October 2008. These are changes to the regulations regarding permitted development and development not permitted.
To improve service to our customers the Planning Department has implemented a Duty Officer system. This means that during set hours there is always a Planning Officer on duty who will be able to help with all general planning enquiries.
The hours that an Officer will be on duty are:
Monday - Thursday 1:00pm - 4:45pm
Friday 1:00pm - 4:15pm
Come to our reception in Tithe Barn Offices, Tithe Barn Road, and ask to speak to the Duty Officer.
Should you not require planning permission, you may still need advice from Building Control.
