If you are a Landlord and you have a property to let in Wellingborough or its surrounding villages then the Borough Council of Wellingborough would like to hear from you.
About the Rent Assistance Scheme
The Rent Assistance Scheme is designed to assist homeless or potentially homeless households in accessing privately rented accommodation which would normally be unaffordable.
Clients are given the opportunity to choose properties from our existing register or they are encouraged to source their own accommodation in Wellingborough and its surrounding areas.
The benefits of working with the Rent assistance Scheme
- A damage deposit bond of the rent amount
- One months rent in advance (depending on the individuals circumstances)
- Advice and information on renting your property
- Tenancy agreements and legal paperwork if required
- Pre-tenancy determination paperwork for the purposes of establishing Rent Officer's fair rent assessment
- Detailed inventory following photographic evidence
- Tenancy support for both the tenant and landlord from a dedicated officer
- Pre-selected clients
Pre-selection
Clients are referred to the Private Sector Accommodation officer via the Housing Options team.
Everyone who requests help under the scheme will have been assessed by our Housing Options Team to ascertain whether they are suitable for the scheme.
All clients that are referred onto the scheme must be eligible to claim either full or partial Housing Benefits.
You are under no obligation as a landlord to accept any person referred to you by the Borough Council of Wellingborough.
