The Green Bin

The green bin is for all your dry recycling materials:

• Paper: newspaper; magazines; junk mail; flyers; leaflets;holiday brochures; directories; shredded paper (loose); Yellow Pages; envelopes.

• Cardboard: boxes; card packaging; cereal boxes; toilet roll tubes; Juice and milk cartons.

• Cans & Tins: drinks cans (aluminium and steel); rinsed pet food tins; metal lids from jars; empty aerosol cans; aluminium foil.

• Plastic: Any type of plastic bottle; yoghurt pots; margarine tubs; plastic ice-cream tubs; plastic carrier bags; plastic food trays

• Glass: bottles and jars (any colour).

Please 'wash & squash'. All items in your green bin should be clean and squashing them will allow you to fit more in your bin. Please do not use black sacks as they will be mistaken as household waste.

Incorrect items and/or recycling covered in food waste will cause contamination and will mean that we are not able to empty your bin. Contamination costs time and money, please help us to reduce it.

We are unable to accept the following materials in the green bin:

• Food waste
• Garden waste (please use your brown bin)
• Pet waste
• Clothes and shoes (please use the separate textile bag collection)
• Toys
• Polystyrene
• Bubble wrap
• Plastic plant pots
• Cling film
• Crisp packets
• Chocolate, biscuit or sweet wrappers
• Toothpaste tubes
• Blister packs that contained medication
• Batteries
• Electrical items
• Mirrors
• Sheet glass
• Pyrex
• Sanitary products
• Construction or DIY materials
• Furniture
• Oils
• Pesticides
• Paint
