The Friends of Swanspool Gardens invite you to their Coffee Morning in Swanspool Pavilion on Thursday 21 July from 10.30 am - 12.00 noon.

Friends of Swanspool Gardens 

The Friends of Swanspool Gardens was established in 2006 and is made up of both local residents living near the Gardens and regular users of the Gardens.  The 30 or so members have met twice a year with officers from the Borough Council to discuss and consult on developments within the gardens, and to share valuable views and opinions.  Various fund-raising events are also held throughout the year with monies raised from these events put towards projects in the gardens.

The group operates a ParkWatch system to keep an eye on the Gardens and any anti-social behaviour or incidents are reported to the police immediately.

There is also a working party who meet at 10am on the 3rd Friday of each month for an hour or so to tend the Roses in the Millennium Rose Garden.  Just turn up - wheelbarrow and tools provided.  Group members prune, weed and hoe and are rewarded with a magnificently display of roses throughout the summer season.  In December 2009 the group re-stocked the beds with two hundred new roses.

The Friends of Swanspool Gardens have been instrumental in establishing tree identification labels to some of the two hundred ornamental, specimen trees in Swanspool Gardens.  It is hoped that the sturdy Oak posts will stand the passage of weather and time, and that the labels will help many garden visitors know their Ginkgo Biloba from their Morus Alba!
