Housing Options

If you are homeless or threatened with homelessness, the council may have a legal duty to assist you. The Housing Options Service will give you advice concerning your situation confidentially over the telephone or through a housing advice interview. If you act quickly we may even be able to prevent you losing your home in the first place.

Private Sector Housing and Development

Private Sector Housing and Development provides advice and assistance to private sector residents and private landlords. We provide financial assistance in the form of grants for owners to carry out repairs, improve energy efficiency or to carry out disabled adaptations. We enforce standards in privately rented properties including Houses in Multiple Occupation.

Affordable Housing

The Housing Service works with landowners, developers and Registered Social Landlords (RSL's) to provide affordable housing for people who live in the borough. We are now qualified to conduct Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH) assessments.
